Bring a touch of Paris to your home with this Ceramic Keepsake Box with Fleur de Lis. It measures approximately 2.5 inches square and is 1.5 inches tall. It's black and white finish will allow it to fit into any decor. There is a pooling of glaze in the crevices that give a slight pantina to the piece.

I'm not sure why, but I have always been drawn to fleur de lis. It could be the symbolism or the fact that I love to go into old churches and buildings to look at the iron work. When I saw the applique I just knew what glazes I wanted to use.

Each box and the fleur de lis applique are slip cast ceramic from a mold. The fleur de lis is applied to the box and the box is cleaned to remove blemishes and fired to create a solid piece. The fleur de lis is coated in layers of black underglaze and clear glaze. The exterior of the box is then coated in a clear crackle glaze, while the interior is coated in a simple clear. The box is then refired. Once the box has cooled for twelve hours a coated of diluted black it is applied and wiped off leaving the appearance of age.
