Bring back summertime memories of dragonflies dancing over water with this Starry Night Dragonfly themed Ceramic Keepsake Box. It measures approximately 3 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall.
The inspiration for this ceramic keepsake box is delightful dance of dragonflies that my sons and I watched at the lake. Dragonflies symbolize many things across many cultures: agility, good luck, happiness, harmony, power, prosperity, purity and speed; making this the perfect gift for the graduate or the person who just landed a new job.
This ceramic box, the dragonfly, and star appliques are slip cast ceramic from a mold. The appliques are applied to the box and the box is cleaned to remove blemishes and fired to create a solid piece. The box is then airbrushed with layers of denim blue glaze, all the while avoiding the appliques. The dragonfly is finished in layers of rose and the stars are finished in lemon yellow. Oystershell glaze is then applied to the dragonfly and stars to give it durability and shine.
