Oval Dragonfly Jewelry Box

This ceramic dragonfly jewelry box is the perfect place to keep your summer mementos or jewelry.

Dragonflies symbolize many things across many cultures: agility, good luck, happiness, harmony, power, prosperity, purity and speed; making this the perfect gift for the graduate or the person who just landed a new job.

This box and the dragonfly appliques are slip cast ceramic from a mold. The dragonflies are applied to the box and the box is cleaned to remove blemishes and fired to create a solid piece. The inside is then coated with multiple layers of denim blue glaze, while the outside is coated with stormy blue carefully avoiding the dragonflies. The dragonflies are finished in light blue underglaze and oystershell overglaze.
