Q: What is "Ceramic Bisque"?
A: Bisque is ceramic ware that has been fired once in a kiln. It is hard, porous, and ready to accept paint or glaze.
Q: Do I need a kiln to finish this project?
A: Not necessarily! While this piece is fired to Cone 04 and can be glazed and re-fired, many of our customers use "cold finishes" like acrylic paints, artist chalks, or oil sticks, which do not require a second firing.
Q: Why does the bisque have a cream or ivory tone?
A: Our high-quality slip contains talc for durability. If you use a clear glaze, the natural cream/ivory tone will show through. This does not affect the color of pigmented glazes or acrylic paints.
Q: How long does it take to ship?
A: Because we are a "Pour to Order" shop, please allow 1–3 weeks for us to hand-pour, clean, and fire your piece before it ships.
